The main aim of the project is to make the six partner schools socially , economically and historically sustainable . With pupils from six partner countries being at the focus of the project , teachers will help to develop concrete actions to transform each partner school into socially , economically and historically sustainable place for all participants .
The project starts with the idea of Turkish programs '' From Starting to Now Turkish History '' and'' Turkey ' s Social and Cultural History '', which are supported by the Turkish History Institute. They will help to concentrate on finding out whether there are similar national programs in the other partner countries . Similarities and differences will be analysed . The results of this analysis will be the basis for special activity packages which will be developed for each partner school over the next two years of the partnership . Our mutual goal is to make pupils and teachers aware of their possibilities to take individual actions in their own history. In order to achieve this goal , there will be workshops which are focused on the pupils , enabling them to contribute ideas and put them to good use . Fostering their social and their language competence aims at preparing the pupils as much as possible for their future career .
Concrete topics will be dealt with , such as redesign of historical equipment with students handcrafts , combining old reports - photos - paintings - pieces of artwork – self-made jewellery and pottery - compilation with new ones , preparing fashion show with the help of students imagination. These topics are not only to be dealt with theory, but learning by doing will be predominant as the interaction and communication between pupils and teachers.
Know - how - transfer in ICT also plays a vital role . How do I present such important topics as history , sustainability and international programs in English ? How do I design a project website which will regularly publish the results of the school partnership ? The pupils and teachers will develop topics for the website . All partner schools will contribute to e-diary for the website . Furthermore , workshops to present a PM-software package will be presented, which will also be used for the professional execution of the school partnership . With respect to sustainability , this software will also be available for all partner schools .
As we are working with children of different age groups , we noticed that children in general are very curious and eager to discover their surroundings . When they come into touch with people of other countries , they are interested to come to know more about their way of living , cultural and historical contexts . This process is also being caused by the fact that the world is our home under a same blue roof and each room of this home refers to different cultures , lives and also historical backgrounds . Furthermore , despite our languages and customs are different from each other , we can reveal a common respect among each other by visiting this different rooms in our home .
The idea of the proposed partnership is to use the child's curiosity for becoming interested in things and people of other European countries . To achieve this , we need to work more on involving and engaging the students in joyful work and expanding their knowledge of history and culture . Contemporary teenagers often do not feel their national identity , they are the citizens of the world . They will experience that culture is our national heritage and we need to do our best to get to know and create . Subsequently , this project will provide not only for students but also teachers many advantages to be aware of continuing life - long learning in different ways .
Coming to know the way of life in other cultures and discovering the way the people lived like a former times does not only meet the child's interest , it may also support the wish of life - long learning and discovering . We can reveal a common respect among each other thanks to this project , and the people who can manage to reveal this respect and global peace are the children who are today's youth and the leader of tomorrows .
On the personal level , we will enjoy discovering each other's way of living . We will be able to extend our knowledge of the world, being together with different communities . Also , this project will help us to learn about other cultures and deal with the barriers that we will have to face in order to become a qualified teacher as now and in the future . Furthermore , this project will let us to improve our pedagogical knowledge in different classrooms and teaching - learning skills in the field of cross - cultural study .
